Meister Eckhart said, “If the only prayer you said in your whole life was ‘thank you,’ that would suffice.” It is an amazing quote and yet we as humans would reply, “For what?”
And so, I’ve gathered 5 things to be thankful for, just in case you downers don’t have any reason at all to celebrate Thanksgiving, which I highly doubt.
5). Writers Strike
Am I crazy? Last time I checked, no!
If you thnk about it, there’s a good thing that comes out of this unfortunate mayhem. Sure the productions of new film projects are being delayed and some TV shows might be put on halt, but look on the bright side: This is the perfect time to get together with your friends and family to catch up on the TV series or movies they didn’t get to see.
These days, there could be at least 6 new movies premiering every weekend and those who are not movie buffs may not have the time to watch all of those. With this writers’ strike, we can relax a bit. Use your critic senses to recommend something cool, but remember… if you’ve already seen it before, don’t spoil the storyline, because that’s just annoying.
4). You’re still alive!
There have been so many bad movies this year. Movies that made you wish you never watched at all. Movies that made you want your $10 or your two hours back. Movies that made you want to go to the house of whoever wrote the script and slap him across the face. But you’re still breathing, right? You still have your health, right?
Let’s not dwell on the mistakes of the past because that would just turn you into a very bitter person and the last thing you want is to come across as the Mr. Scrooge of this holiday season. Now you know better and, next time, figure out how to spend money wisely on movies that are worth watching. You can always rely on Rama’s SCREEN for my latest movie reviews!
3. It’s the Fall season!
Ah, the leaves are changing, the weather’s freezing and the movies are getting better in quality. I’m the kind of guy who always wants to be inspired and recharged so I can become better as both a person and a movie watcher. This time of year, take advantage the Oscar-worthy movie season, appreciate the art of great films, the lessons they may have for us, and the chance to analyze something useful and gain benefit from it.
Overall, this year wasn’t that bad. We can always thank Judd Apatow and his gang to bring us a reason to laugh. Judd and Seth Rogen have become powerhouse names for entertainment these past few years. From now on whenever we see a movie trailer that starts with “From the guys who brought you 40 Year Old Virgin, Talladega Nights, Knocked Up and Superbad” you can bet that that comedy film’s going to be hilarious (Walk Hard, Drillbit Taylor).
2). 2008 will Rock!
Next year is going to be a blast! Especially come summer time.
For those of us who love blockbuster movies that are about good guys beating the living daylight out of the bad guys, we can anticipate what’s in store for us. The heavyweight list includes Indiana Jones 4, Prince Caspian, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, The Dark Knight, Get Smart, to name just a few. Our eyes will be pampered with stunning visual effects like never before.
It’s already November, time flies, so feel free to start the countdown.
1). For being a part of something awesome!
This is actually kind of my personal thankfulness. Ever since I started Rama’s SCREEN in January, it’s been a great ride! One of the coolest experiences is that I get to be a part of YSN.com and I have been reading the other blogs they have posted about how to become successful and all the helpful tips from the mentors there.
When you’re doing something it’s always good to turn to those who’ve already done it before, just so you can have a clue as to what it is that you’re getting yourself into. As strange as this may sound, when I jumped into this whole movie blog, I asked my competitors if they had any advice about how to actually run this thing. One of them said, “Just keep writing!”
Which brings me to another point along the same line. I have always believed that the secret to success is to stay in love: You have to be in love with whatever it is you set your mind on doing.
Don’t wake up every morning feeling miserable because of what you have to do for the rest of the day.
When you love what you do, you’ll be willing to invest the time and the research.
So try and be a part of something YOU think is awesome and don’t give up on it. Nothing in this world that’s worth having comes easy. You think it’s easy doing something that I’m not getting paid for? But because it brings me a certain joy, Rama’s SCREEN is still up and running.
In every aspect of life, I hope that you would be able to find youself say, “I am 100% successful because I am 100% faithful.”
