Growing Up is Hard to Do!

Within the last year I have graduated from college, explored another country, moved away from home, moved in with my boyfriend, transitioned from a school job to full-time career, as well as had a formal introduction to the world of financial independence. Ahhh! Oh, and a BIG thanks to my insurance company. Who would’ve guessed that being kicked off the family plan would be my graduation present?

Just thinking about it all makes my head hurt! However, I must remind myself that although this is a lot to digest in such a short period of time, and I have asked for it… all of it. Yes, even financial independence! Okay, maybe I didn’t necessarily ask for this, but my poor parents have had to deal with my broke, college-student butt for long enough. Even when I’m frustrated, scared and feel like I have no idea what the heck I am doing, I am immensely grateful and in no way want to take these opportunities for granted. I just need to vent for a brief moment and have a heart-to-heart with the MANY others who are feeling the same way.

This past year has been a rollercoaster! From feeling like I know exactly what I want in one moment and then feeling like I have absolutely no clue in the next. Talk about getting kicked off your high horse! But you know what? Great! This is what keeps us ticking. If life was a standard one-size-fits-all, think of how boring it would get. Without a good challenge how can one see his or her potential? Now, I am nowhere close to being an expert by any means. I’m still learning and hope to continue learning. But, what I have gathered so far in my endeavors is to have a solid foundation of who you are and where you come from, keeping in mind that it is important to stay open to new ideas and experiences. No matter how many times you get kicked off of that horse, jump back on with confidence! Life is too short.
